Ellie

Hey people,

it's been a while since I last blogged. Lots of stuff has been going on, some of it nice, some if it not so nice. But here I am- it must have been bearable and I will not complain.

The purpose of this post is to tell you about an adventure I just had. As you may know, my bike got stolen recently (burn in hell, whoever you are), so I have been hunting for a new one for some time. I didn't want to spend any money a bike, so my absolute maximum was 30-40 pounds. So this morning I stumbled upon two 10-quid bikes from a private seller in Saltdean, one of the eastern suburbs of Brighton. One hour later, I was on my way there. The bus ride was really really nice, about 15 minutes along the coast and I have to say, the views were breathtaking. After a bit of walking I got to my final destination and rung the doorbell. A tiny lady walked out and showed me the bike- an even tinier 23-inch!!! The bigger one was so gone. Having spent five quid on a bus ticket, I figured I am not going home empty-handed. Five minutes later I was strolling down the hill, pushing a tiny bike with a massive smile on my face. So far, so good, you might say. My dear friend got named Ellie, after the well-known Ice Age mammoth. She is in mint condition- a complete pleasure to watch. She's got similar spec to my first ever proper bike, roughly 13 years ago. 15 Shimano gears, SIS at the back, cantilever brakes, new tires and just a tiny bit of rust. In one sentence, she's white and lovely (no, I am not racist, just the guy who painted her decided to use white paint).

So I got to the bus stop, waited for a while and there goes the big 26 into town. The driver- a grumpy old man I would like to decapitate. "No buses on the bike, mate! Sowwie!" Outraged, I figured I only have one choice- ride Ellie into the sunset! The brake pads turned out to be made of plastic rather than rubber so they did keep me awake, but overall the ride was amazing. It's a little under 10 miles to my place and in the end I was completely exhausted. As lovely as Ellie might be, she is just too tiny for me- I am afraid we two will have to part as soon as I find someone more appropriate :D Anyhow, here's a link some pictures (sorry, you may have to me by facebook friend to see them):
